Walk in the Light is a Christian Non-Profit Organization based in Haniville outside Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. Our ministry is devoted to help meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of African families in the local township of Haniville.
We do the small things, God does the big things. We believe God calls us to put our faith & love into action (James 2:14-17). Within the township of Haniville, there are 10,000 people living in extreme poverty, of which 60% are HIV positive, and 39% are unemployed. We strive to increase the overall quality of life through five areas of impact.
We provide free transport to and from local clinics, hospitals, and government offices. This enables people to be consistent with their medication, and have access to government pensions.
We have church services, pastoral counseling, and youth & young adult programs. We provide an atmosphere to learn about Jesus and follow him living out his teaching in Matthew 25.
Food & Agriculture
We deliver food donations. We provide garden space and teach families how to grow vegetables. We farm Rose Geranium for essential oils which is used to create jobs and generate income.
We employ local Zulu people to work various jobs within the ministry. This teaches them job skills and provides sustainable income as we improve our ministry together.
We distribute clothing donations. We help build and restore homes. We visit and encourage people who are sick. We provide and maintain safe environments for recreation to both young and old.
